What started as missionary contact by Ecuadorians has now evolved into a unique friendship and partnership between the village of 500 African descendants and Canadians. The Navigators and Lifechange Adventures have helped build a community center with a library and computer lab that is geared towards the development of women and children.

Elmira Maple Syrup Festival
A bus load of international students from the University of Waterloo will be traveling to Elmira for a "cultural experience". The Elmira festival is an annual event and this outing, sponsored by Chinese-Canadian Friendships, is very popular.
